Summer Small Projects

Well it’s been awhile since my last post, I am so sorry but I’ve been kinda consumed in health problems.

Anyway, I have heard from a few of you that you miss my posting, so here are a few little projects I’ve been working on.

I love summertime, and that means to me, beachy looking decor. 2. I saw the Rust Oleum ‘Ocean’ Chalk Paint and wanted to try it! I have this 5 drawer storage cabinet that I keep my staple supplies inside. It was an ugly brown, with bamboo inserts on the drawers. Here is how it turned out:

Whatcha Think of the Colors?

I love it! Especially the inserts where I added colors of blues, greens, and white.

Sometimes all it takes to dress up a lamp is just adding some shells around the rim of the lamp shade. Use E6000 clear glue to keep the shells on. It dries clear.

Very easy to do. Next step was to add rope to the top of lamp base, and the bottom:

Here is what it looks like now:

I’ve had these bar stools that I had always planned to do something with the legs. I love the agua leather seats, but the black legs, just made them look so dark.

So I repainted the legs with Rust Oleum ‘Bright’ Metallic Gold Spray paint:

Painted in Metallic Gold

Here they are now:

Do you have one of those outdoor swings? My swing is newer, but with the hot sun shining down I wanted to protect the cushions from fading. I came up with such an easy solution to protect your swing from fading or to cover up worn cushions, and here it is:

Do you recognize the cover?

It’s as easy as covering them up with a pretty shower cushion! Wow! Look at the difference by adding a shower curtain. It’s water resistant, and protects my cushions!

I’m working on some other projects and will keep you updated. I won’t be posting everyday, but I will post at least once a week.

Thank you so much for checking out my projects. Hope you and your family is healthy and enjoying your summer.

    1. Hello honey, thank you so much for your prayers, they are deeply appreciated.
The kind I use over again and again is E6000 CLEAR glue. You can use it outdoors and indoors. Easy to use, just a little dab, and it’s clear. It glues onto almost everything. I’ve used on wood, plastic, glass, and it holds together. Have fun! I didn’t glue the cork onto the glass. It is picked up and looked at by the kids and grandkids so every once in a while I’m in the bottle with a skewer re-adjusting the picture. For Hannukkah you can use a wine bottle with bottom filled with fake snow flakes, an some blue and white ribbons, a star on the cork, and some fairy lights inside. Makes an inexpensive, thoughtful gift.

      1. It’s so good to hear from you, darling!
Thank you for guidance. I am about to make a set of coasters and a couple of trivets.
Just curious, what do you think Chanukkah has to do with snow and stars? The symbol of Chanukkah is a menorah – a candelabra with 9 candles, the central one positioned higher than the others, and the other 8 on the same level. If my coasters and trivets come out right, I’ll try to make a cork menorah.

      2. I’m not thinking that clearly, I’m so sorry honey . It sounds like such a fabulous idea! I would absolutely love to see it when your finished. E6000 is a great glue. You can even use hot glue on corks. Just be sure to put it on thinly.

    1. I was given this can of Rustoleum Chalked ultra matter paint in ‘Coastal Blue’. I loved it. It was so easy to apply, and love you only to do 1 coat! Saves so much time not having to sand to the bones and only apply once. I have been doing a little staining lately on small projects. I want to learn to stain. I’ve been playing with some stains. I love a grey then some of the light denim over it….it’s so gorgeous! I have to do it on something bigger.

    1. Thank you so much joseph! That was one of my first posts. It really brings back some of my best memories. I have it in my workroom and as I sit here I can glance at it, and it puts me in such a wonderful peaceful state. Thank you so much for coming, hope everything with you is well.
