It’s Christmas time, and oh how I love the holiday season. I want to share with you this inexpensive, wonderful gift idea. Last year I gave these out to my neighbors, doctor, etc., and it was such a hit with everyone, I wanted to share it with you, so you can bring smiles to others hearts.
Do you have neighbors and people you want to remember and make their day special? I truly had so many positive feed backs…they absolutely loved it!
What is it??? Stove top Potpourri. Simmering potpourri is a lovely way to make your home smell warm and inviting, especially during the holiday season when you use fragrant spices like cinnamon and cloves. As the water evaporates, they just add more.
This is what you need:
- 1 Lemon
- 1 Orange
- 2 Cinnamon Sticks
- Handful of Cranberries
- A few Cloves
- 2 Bay leaves or you can just add some pine from your tree.
- Plastic Gift Bags (dollar store)
I put in the heaviest in the bag first…then added all…this is what it looks like..
The Christmas tree tag is the directions…..I printed the tags on my printer…cut out the them out…put on with wire or string that comes with the bags.
I saw my doctor a couple of months after Christmas. She actually got excited telling me how much she loved the gift. She said she kept filling the saucepan with water, and all day she said her home smelled so good.

Thank you! Months later, people remembered and brought it up to me again. It’s so much easier than baking baked goods, when people seem to really love this..I guess it sets the mood for Christmas!

When people are in the middle of something, they may not remember to mention it right away. I did that. When I remember later, I did say something to that person! It just happened this week!!

Thanks for the recipe! I had it at one time, I actually got it from my brother-in-law. He is the master of this recipe! But giving it out as gifts that is incredible… guess what he’s getting for Xmas? A bag of supplies from me! ~Kim

Guest will love the aroma of this throughout your home. You add water to it during the day to keep it simmering…it’s great for neighbors, postman, etc. Keep kitties away, specifically you know who!

Oh yes, we know who! Someone who doesn’t eat chicken, but pilfers it for Uncle Barmalei…
