I was asked if I would post a hack for shoes. Apparently, his wife has so many shoes in their boxes, and not enough space! This is for you and everyone else who shares this problem! Who could have too much shoes??

Store your shoes under your bedskirt:

 

You can buy one or make one out of an over-the-door shoe pouch organizer. Here's a canvas version.

Hang molding near the ceiling of a closet for your non-seasonal shoes:

Cover a shoe rack with a curtain.

A ribbon tie for the curtain adds an elegant touch.

Store them in an ottoman:

This is a great solution for a small apartment, but this version costs $799 (RIP Lilly Pulitzer). If you already own a storage ottoman, you could try making your own using fabric and a staple gun.

Repurpose old wine crates:

Store your shoes in shoe boxes with printed out Instagrams of your shoe collection:

 

A simple wooden pallet has slits that perfectly fit shoes:

Use a pegged coat rack:

Any kind of coat rack will do.

Build your own PVC-pipe shoe rack: I did this for a friend of mine, works great, especially kids shoes!

This next one is great for the ladies heels. Use a ladder:

Storage under the bed with wine boxes:

Not the sturdiest solution, but the compartments fit summer shoes and sneakers perfectly.

Use recycling bins from Ikea to store shoes in an entryway:

They're only $13 apiece from Ikea.

Elastic shoe straps are a quirky and colorful way to hang your shoes on the wall.(But you could use bungee cords)

This is such a colorful way to hang your shoes!!!

These are $25 from Droog but you could attempt to make your own with wall pegs and bungee cords.

Hide shoes under a slipcovered bench.

What's great about storing shoes underneath a bench is that you have a seat to sit on while putting them on.

This Ikea Komplement slide-out rack holds an impressive 16 pairs of shoes.

Hang shoe organizers on a room divider or screen:

If you alternate your shoes, you will have more room.

Shoe Organizer for Kids and Adults 12 Pairs

Here is one of my favorites.

This shoe organizer holds 30-50 pairs of shoes. Free standing. Shelves can be angled for heels and the shelves can be flat for boots or flats.

I love creating new ideas. And now that I am happily retired, I have lots more time to create them!   1. OMG – that’s an Imelda Marcos explosion of shoes! I had to get rid of all my gorgeous shoes and replace them with ‘sensible’ old foot appropriate ones 😦

  4. Fantastic Kelly I will start working straight away. But my partner ( not my wife thank god, to many shoes ) is a traditionalist who doesn’t like change. But will give it a go.

    1. Thanks for the pic….haha…you are creative!!! Think about a couple of rows of pegs all along the bottom of your closet if you don’t have the space for it like pictured. That would look great and be very helpful. Let me know what you decide to do. It would be nice to have your bottom rack back in the dishwasher!❤️️☺️❤️️

      1. Haha, the old dishwasher has been discarded and replaced with a new one…that actually works! I just held onto the old racks and gave them a new job. Yes, pegs around the bottom of the closet seems like an ideal place to start.

      5. You can run 2 or 3 rows all along the bottom of the wall. If you have a walk in , do it all around the walls. Also, you think so much like me. I love recycling!!

      6. I do love recycling/repurposing, especially when it is something easy and immediately useful. I can see going up the wall with pegs, in both the current and storage closet.

      8. No pics other than what I occasionally put on my blog. I haven’t done a post about the dishwasher racks yet, but probably will do one eventually. I’ve enjoyed all of the ideas you share.

      16. Yep, those are my babies! My sweet helpers, well, the one is always by me, especially in the kitchen. He always seems to think I’m cooking for him. Why is that I wonder? haha

    1. Lots of them. Some that are easy to make yourself, and then there are some harder, but very rewarding. Then there are also some for the ones that may rather buy. 🤗❤️️
