Just a Thought

Fresh & Natural Turkey Chili Recipe

Surprise! I do find time to cook! I was just talking to Robin over at Haphazard Homemaker about her White Chicken Chili, and thought I would, just this once, share a recipe with you.

This Turkey Chili recipe is cooked in a slow cooker. Whenever I am invited to a gathering with pot luck, I almost always make and bring this to share. Everyone seems to love it. Depending on the gathering, I sometimes double it!

  • 1 1b Ground Turkey
  • 1 medium can Fired Stewed Tomato
  • 1 medium White Onion
  • 2 gloves of Garlic
  • Fresh Basil
  • Fresh Parsley or Celantro
  • 1 TBSP Turmeric
  • pkg fresh Sliced Mushrooms
  • Small can of El Pato Hot Sauce
  • 2 large cans of Kidney Beans
  • Cumen
  1. Saute Garlic and Onions in olive oil.
  2. Saute Mushrooms in separate skillet, then add to slow cooker
  3. Lightly Brown Turkey with Cumin
  4. Add Sauted Garlic and Onion to Turkey and Cumin in large pan and continue to brown turkey.
  5. Add all ingredients to the slow cooker. Cook on low for 6-8 hours.

I know there isn’t much to this recipe, but it sure taste good! Everyone loves! Thank you!

What no image??? Sorry, but it is soooo delicious!

    1. The only other recipe that I have that goes crazy with everyone is a banana bread recipe that was given to me from my maid of honors mother. It had been in her family, and in order to receive I had to promise never to give out. It’s been decades, and I have kept my promise. I make it for Christmas gifts to my neighbors, church, etc.

      1. But you do cook and eat your own food, don’t you? It’s a pity you don’t have a photo of your turkey chili; I would’ve loved to reblog it. Maybe I could link your post to one of my own ground turkey recipes? I need to think how to do it right.

      2. My son was down with my granddaughter. When he is down, I always make it for him to enjoy and take home some with him. As I was writing this recipe, I saw the last bit of the chili being eaten by Krystal. (my friend) Food or crafts, she seems to always be there. hahaha, but I had it out defrosting to get a pick. darn. I will be making it soon again, perfect weather for it! I didn’t use the packaged mushrooms. I purchased them by lb. So delicious. I left them in big pieces so they wouldn’t shrink too much. Love the mushrooms in the mix!

      3. Too late! Yesterday I was so tired that The Boss volunteered to make dinner (wow!) and used up the rest of the big mushrooms to make burritos / slash wraps. And I was so tired that I didn’t take pictures – how dumb is that?

    1. Out of all the pot lucks I bring to gatherings with family or friends, this one is the favorite. It goes fast. I make a batch, and put in separate Tupperware containers and freeze. I really love this chili. Thank you Robert! I have a son named Robert! ❤️️
