Trash to Treasure

Dresser Repurposed Update

I wanted to share with you a beautiful creation by Rita  Champine. What she did was she took the drawers of the dresser and used fabric and embellishments to make the drawers look like suitcases. So no need to look for suitcases to make one of your own. Just pick out some great fabric from your local fabric store and happy creating!!…This dresser was being tossed aside to be burned.

and after Rita’s magic….Painted the entire structure with brown rustoleum paint. Found some material from my local fabric store recent bins. Added some embellishments from things I had laying around in my work room – old belt buckles, handles, locks, upholstery tack. Added in all the right places and now this piece can continue on to it’s next journey of existences.

Isn’t this a wonderful inspiration…

  1. Hi Linda,
Thank you for featuring my dresser makeover here. Just to clarify these are not suitcases I used. What I did was took the drawers of the dresser and used fabric and embellishments to make the drawers look like suitcases. So no need to look for suitcases to make one of your own. Just pick out some great fabric from your local fabric store and happy creating!!
    Loved doing this project.

  2. That’s super cute! I’ve always wanted to try this and have an old dresser someone was tossing out, maybe it’ll be my next project. Love your blog Kelley!
