Trash to Treasure

Hello Birdie

I was in Home Depot a bit ago, and in the indoor garden area they have all these parakeets that are so realistic looking. I purchased a smaller one. He was sitting on a wire ring. When I got home, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with him…don’t you just hate that random purchase…nah..I will figure out something. He kinda was too small to make a big impact in the pergola….so I had to figure out something else.

I had this cage I had found…on the curb…actually with 2 others. They were in pretty bad shape..

So, I took a wire brush and  a solution of 50-50 vinegar and water and scrubbed off the water stains and rust. I couldn’t get it all off, but it looked pretty good. After it was dry, I sprayed it with Rustoleum 2x Metallic Gold…look at how pretty it looks now…

I love this spray paint!! So pretty…so then I took the little bird and put it into the cage. I fastened his ring to the top inside….now he is sitting pretty…

Isn’t this cute!! Doesn’t he look real. I had posted this on another site and they thought the birdie was real…
